START: 8 AM Saturday (April 28th)
END: 7:55 AM Sunday (April 29th)
I’ve sort of been in a reading slump for a while now, though I guess I’ve also sort of been in a writing slump as well. Luckily, I’m slowly moving out of it by writing poetry, working on improving my hand sewing abilities and going beast mode with my fitness. So, I think doing something like Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon would be perfect for jumping out of this crater I’ve been in. I like to have an idea of what my TBR list will be like for readathons, so here are a few of the titles I’d like to get to:
1.Bastard!! Heavy Metal Dark Fantasy By Kazushi Hagiwara
Wizard Part 1 & Part 2, Basically The first 4 chapters released as monthly flipped floppy comic. I really enjoyed the OVA and I love the art style and metal references. According to MAL: “Bastard!!: Ankoku no Hakaishin was first published in English as Bastard!! Heavy Metal Dark Fantasy by VIZ Media, who published the first 19 volumes from August 5, 2002 to September 8, 2009, before dropping the license.” I guess if I want to finish the series I’ll have to step up my Japanese studies and buy the Japanese volumes, I doubt this would have furigana.
2.The Hero’s Closet: Sewing for Cosplay and Costuming By Gillian Conahan
Decided to check this out from my local library via the Overdrive app. I’m a novice cosplay and currently sew completely by hand (I can’t afford a sewing machine yet) so I’m hoping to learn more stitches.
3.The Reluctant Dragon by Kenneth Grahame
This title is a short story in the public domain and one of my favorite Librivox narrators; Clive Catteral has released a solo audiobook of this short story. Sometime I like to listen to audiobooks while I work out, do housework and also when I’m sketching so I think listening to this is during the marathon will be a pleasant break for my eyes while I get some work done.
Roleplay is a great way to develop creative writing skills and also a fun way to meet other geeky people. I’ve been doing mostly text based RP for a while now and have been wanting to get into D&D for a long time. For some reason learning and playing seemed daunting and intimidating to me. Which of course means that I’m going to try my best to overcome what intimidates me.
Hopefully, I can read through all of these and maybe more, but if not that’s fine all the same, as long as I’m not stressing and just having fun reading again. Even if I decide to take a break and do some writing or read/play a visual novel I’ll write up my experience with this readathon. I might tweet a little bit via my stone age samsung phone but I really want to save all my comments on what I read and photos for my wrap-up post. I’ll be finally updating my reading list etc. on Goodreads after the readathon is over. Feel free to add me as a friend or follow me on twitter, and I hope everyone has an awesome readathon.
